How I Thankunext’ed 2018

SETBACKS, HEARTBREAK, FEAR
How I did it all this year
💔First break up
🇹🇭First solo adventure
🥊First fight
🌻First tattoo
⚡First magazine feature

Yes I’ve been blonde and I’ve had more fun – but so do the girls who follow their hearts.

In uni, no one wanted to work in sales or at startups – but I did. I pitched myself to the CEO of a silicon valley tech startup to hire me that summer. At the end of summer they asked me to drop out of uni and move to Palo Alto, but I declined, insisting not to leave my family and BF.

So they made me an offer to work from Canada and occasionally travel the world with my coworkers.

1 week after writing my final biz exams, I started working.

3 years in and I started to realize I had chosen a path I no longer wanted to continue; that it had all been an unrealized attempt to fill the void from when I quit martial arts as a teen national gold medalist.

And I realized that my BF, who I had loved for 8 years, wasn’t meant to be my future husband.

3 months later, I moved to Thailand, found myself competing in martial arts again…and the rest will be in my memoir.

I know what it feels like to be an anxious, neurotic insomniac. I know what it’s like to abuse food like a drug. I know what it feels like to have your adaptability on overdrive due to an emotionally traumatic and demanding childhood.

If you believe in yourself relentlessly, you will suffer, but life is simply one sentence:

You get back up.

I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, in a year, or 5 years from now. All I know is that 1 year ago I chose a different life and I had no idea that I’d become the woman I had always dreamed of becoming as a little girl, but never believed I could be.

And despite all that I have done and overcome, I still doubt myself, and always will.

But I will believe in myself more.

So believe in yourself.

And CELEBRATE every damn WIN.
